Mike Egan’s : I Want Your Skull
An exhibition of paintings, drawings, ceramics and limited edition prints
We’re thrilled to invite you to the opening of Mike Egan’s “I Want Your Skull” at The Cotton Candy Machine Pop Up in Mt. Lebanon!
This special exhibition will feature a wide range of works including paintings, drawings, ceramics and prints showcasing Mike Egan’s iconic skulls and memento mori imagery. Egan’s art is deeply rooted in his exploration of death, mortality, and the beauty in contemplating our impermanence.
A Pittsburgh-area native, Mike’s journey as an artist began after facing limited career prospects following his graduation from Edinboro University of PA. After a life-changing layoff on September 11, 2001, and a career detour as an embalmer and funeral director, Mike’s exposure to the human experience of mortality fueled his artistic practice. His works have always drawn inspiration from the inevitability of death, using bold imagery and vivid colors to explore the emotions surrounding life and loss.
Over the years, Egan’s exploration of death deepened, and he eventually made the decision to dedicate himself to art full-time. His pieces reflect an ongoing dialogue with the concept of mortality and the beauty that can arise from facing it head-on. Egan’s signature skull imagery is more than just a symbol—it’s a reminder of the richness that life can offer when we embrace its temporary nature.
This is an exciting moment in Mike’s career as a new documentary based on his art recently premiered. The Warhol Creative and Animal Studio present Death: The Life of Mike Egan, a deeply personal short documentary directed by Doug Helmick. This film explores Mike Egan’s lifelong obsession with death and how this contemplation of mortality has fueled his creative inspiration. Premiering at The Andy Warhol Museum in December 2024, Death is currently screening at select festivals, including the AmDocs Film Festival (March 27, 2025) and the Cleveland International Film Festival (April 1, 2025).
We hope you can join us to celebrate this exciting new chapter in Mike Egan’s career and take in the art that has captivated Pittsburgh’s creative community.
Opening Night: April 18th, 6 - 8 PM

We're so excited to announce that we are teaming up with our friend at the record store Vinyl Remains to host a Pop Up Art Boutique here in our new home of Mt Lebanon, PA. For the next 3 months we’ll be hosting a series of guest artists, beginning with our opening event on February 15th. It's been years since we had our own store front gallery space in Brooklyn, and we feel grateful now to be able to celebrate some of our friends and peers, and share their creations with you.
